The Imagine Weston Pre-Kindergarten/VPK Program

Dear Parents:

As you already know, the Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) Legislation was signed into law on January 2, 2005. This program offers 540 instructional hours throughout 180 days, which translates into a total of three hours daily of free education for children who are four years old by September 1st.

Our Pre-kindergarten curriculum prepares children for Kindergarten by enhancing their pre-reading, pre-math, language and social skills, while offering a strong foundation that will lead them to educational success. Also, we have available a Bi-literate curriculum program that offers a full immersion experience in English and Spanish.

The VPK and Pre-Kindergarten Extended Time program will begin on August 19, 2013, and will follow the same calendar as Broward County Schools.  We will be offering three VPK classes on the Imagine Weston campus:

Extended time program from 8:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. (includes a Spanish/English Bi-literate program). All 3 VPK classes: from 11:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M. (all English)

The VPK program offers small ratio classes: 1 teacher per every 11 children or 1 teacher and an assistant per 20 children. This combined with our curriculum and our very dedicated and nurturing staff makes the perfect combination for a successful learning experience and a smooth transition into Kindergarten.

Registration will begin on Monday, April 29, 2013, promptly at 4:00 P.M.  Please note that lining up for registration is NOT PERMITTED on school grounds prior to 4:00 P.M. To register, you must have the following in hand:

• VPK Voucher
• Florida Certification of Immunization Form DH680
• School Entry Health Exam Form DH3040 

On April 29th, you will receive a number according to your position in line. You will be given an enrollment packet to fully complete and return no later than May 13th. The first month’s tuition for the extended bi-literate program will be due by May 13th. There is a non-refundable registration fee for the extended day program. 

Enrolling your child in the VPK program and/or Extended Time with Bi-literate program does not guarantee your child’s placement in the Kindergarten program nor the Kindergarten Bi-literate program at Imagine Charter School at Weston for the 2013-2014 school year. VPK students can be placed on a preference list for Imagine Weston’s Kindergarten, subject to availability of seats in the school. Siblings of existing Charter School students, staff and governing board members have a higher preference. If you are interested, and there is limited availability to accommodate all the VPK students, you will have to participate in a lottery.
